Achieves milestone sale of 250,000th borescope plug; 500,000th LULYLOK self-locking device anticipated by year end.

JPB Système, manufacturer of efficiency-enhancing technology solutions for aerospace and other industries, has announced two key product milestones as it marks its 25th anniversary year. Having recently surpassed the sale of its 250,000th borescope self-locking plug, the company is well on track to hit another landmark with production of its 500,000th LULYLOK B-nut self-locking device.

The borescope plug successfully addresses a problem put to the company by aerospace giant, Safran, in the 1990s to eliminate the need for lockwires when securing an engine’s connections prior to visual inspection. Developed continually since its creation and now in widespread use with Safran and other aircraft engine manufactures Rolls Royce and Pratt & Whitney, JPB’s borescope self-locking plugs provide a safe and secure seal for the borescope inspection ports situated around the turbine engine case.

Customers are afforded a more efficient system that reduces maintenance time from one hour to 10 seconds. Such has been the success of JPB’s borescope plugs, that JPB Système now holds a large part of the market, with the product certified on a range of aircraft engines – including the GE90-115 engine for the Boeing 737MAX and the G7200 engine for Airbus A320neo.

Similarly, JPB Système’s LULYLOK solution is popular among aircraft engine manufacturers. An advanced B-nut for fittings, its self-locking device ensures pipe sealing, preventing loosening and leakage caused by severe vibration and extreme thermal conditions. LULYLOK addresses safety concerns by eradicating the need for a lockwire or safety cable to secure the threaded parts within the engine. This eliminates foreign object damage while reducing maintenance costs and installation time.

“The way in which the world’s foremost aircraft engine manufacturers quickly and wholeheartedly embraced these products is testament to their ability to improve safety and remove labor-intensive processes in support of more efficient MRO processes,” says Damien Marc, CEO, JPB Système. “We’re extremely proud to achieve such an impressive double milestone, especially as we celebrate a quarter of a century serving the world’s foremost aircraft engine manufacturers.”

JPB Système recently developed a pioneering middleware solution designed to empower companies seeking to embrace intelligent manufacturing and Industry 4.0. The innovative manufacturing execution system, known as KEYPROD, enables manufacturers to connect, track, and measure the effectiveness of all elements of the production process – including machinery and associated applications. Early adopter trials of KEYPROD are currently underway with several companies, with commercial availability of the solution expected in 2021.

Design enables airline passengers to keep newly washed hands clean.

Jamco Corp. has developed a hands-free lavatory lock knob and door handle in collaboration with All Nippon Airways (ANA), a Japanese Skytrax certified 5 Star Airline. For passengers that don’t wish to use their fingers or hands to touch the lavatory door, Jamco and ANA’s solution allows them to use their forearm or elbow to open the door and return to their seats with clean hands. The hands-free lavatory lock knob and door handle are low-cost items that airlines can install to existing lavatories without major modification.

ANA is the development partner for the hands-free products and is expected to be the first operator, which furthers the ANA Care Promise, the company’s commitment to ensure health and safety of passengers with hygienic environments in airports, lounges, and onboard aircraft.

In the wake of COVID-19, touchless, hygienic cabin interiors support passengers’ need for safety during travel. Keeping hands clean by frequently washing with soap and water helps prevent infection. The hands-free lavatory door system can assure passengers to exit the lavatory keeping their hands cleaner after washing, thus helping stop the spread of illness.

This demonstration was done as part of development with ANA. The hands-free lavatory door, rolled out for testing at Tokyo Haneda Airport in August, was well-received by most passengers.

Jamco is the lavatory and galley supplier for a variety of aircraft, including the sole original equipment lavatory and galley supplier for the Boeing 787 aircraft.
