Scouting report: Owns the requisite frame with an athletic build and room to add necessary mass. Looks and plays taller/longer than listing with open-field gait on the longer end of the spectrum that fosters speed-building ability at the top end. Production jumped from freshman to sophomore year with obvious big-play punch (10.79 ypc), then again in junior year with enormous production in counting stats and terrific per carry rate (12.05). Field speed is a plus and reflects in sophomore track times, including a 10.96 100 and multiple in the 11.1 range. Texas Class 4A state-level contender in the long jump with a 23-3 3/4 PR. Flashes impressive short-area suddenness with agility to make defenders miss in the hole. Does not require much gear-down when redirecting. Couples those traits with impressive burst and acceleration to reach top speed quickly. Shows good contact balance at the second level. Capable pass catcher with 7-on-7 reps as a receiver, though in-game opportunities catching the ball have been limited (20 receptions in sophomore and junior seasons). Third-down competency in blitz pickup and increased passing game reps can be developed. Vertical runner at times with a higher center of gravity. Looked like one of the best 2023 running backs nationally early on and reinforced that in exceptional junior campaign. Projects as a difference-making high-major back with long-term NFL Draft early-round potential. – 247Sports Midlands Region Recruiting Analyst Gabe Brooks NFL Draft projection: 2-3 Round (Day 2) Player comparison: T.J. Committed to: Ohio State 247Sports Composite: 5-star | 0.9858 | No. 28 Overall | No. 3 WR Recruiting summary: A 6-foot-2, 185-pound wide receiver out of IMG Academy High School in Bradenton, Fla., Tate committed to the Buckeyes over fellow finalists LSU, Notre Dame and Tennessee. He holds 37 reported offers overall. His primary recruiter at Ohio State was passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach Brian Hartline. He is the 11th commitment for the Buckeyes in the 2023 recruiting cycle. Scouting report: The type of wide receiver that always seems to be open. Creates plenty of separation at the line of scrimmage and is able to beat both zone and man coverage once underway. Superb body control and large 10-inch hands allow him to make extremely difficult catches look relatively easy. Competitive not only at the catch point, but also once the ball is in his hands as he will fight to pick up additional yardage. Owns a rather slender build now, but should eventually carry 195 pounds or more. Has experience working both inside and outside. Shifty enough in the open field to be featured as a return man, as well. Started prep career off in Chicago before transferring into IMG Academy. Instantly became a top target for the defending national champions and scored touchdown after touchdown as a junior. Has posted impressive numbers before in both the short shuttle and vertical jump. Might not be a 4.4 guy on the stopwatch, but likely to only get more explosive once frequenting a college weight room. Should be viewed as one of the top pass catchers in a deep 2023 wide receiver class and a potential all-conference type of player for a Top 25 program. Ability to consistently shake defenders and generate big plays will eventually have him on the radar of NFL scouts. – 247Sports Southeast Recruiting Analyst Andrew Ivins NFL Draft projection: 2-3 Round (Day 2)

Committed to: Alabama 247Sports Composite: 4-star | 0.9608 | No. 83 Overall | No. 10 OT Recruiting summary: A 6-foot-7, 295-pound offensive tackle out of Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Formby committed to the Crimson Tide over fellow finalists Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Tennessee. He holds 33 reported offers overall. His primary recruiter at Alabama was offensive line coach Eric Wolford. He is the fifth commitment for the Crimson Tide in the 2023 recruiting cycle. Scouting report: Verified at 6-foot-7 and a shade under 300-pounds, possesses a long lean frame with growth potential to add additional weight to his frame. Displays good athletic ability at the right tackle position. Appears to have natural knee bend and hip flexibility. Demonstrates good foot and body quickness off the line of scrimmage and plays with some suddenness. Exhibits above average foot quickness in pass protection and shows the ability to anchor in his pass set. Possesses good play strength at the point of attack, showing the ability to move defenders naturally off the line of scrimmage. Possesses the ability to finish and sustain blocks. Has some nasty to him. Flashes some ability to play at the second level in space, but his skill set is more geared to a traditional power scheme. Long lean tackle that has room to grow and possesses developmental upside to play left tackle at the next level. Has a good feel for the game, will need one to two years to develop physically at the next level but projects as a high level multi-year starter at a Power Five program. – 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Cooper Petagna

In 12 games as a junior, he tallied 61 tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack, seven quarterback hurries, two pass breakups and a blocked kick, per MaxPreps. Scouting report: Looks tall and long with monstrous bulking capacity. Wears current mass well and should easily add more bulk in college. Has the look of an offensive tackle but signs point to long-term D-line projection. Will likely fit various personnel looks given physical tools. Good athletic profile with track and field context. Texas 4A regional champ in the discus (148-8) and regional qualifier in the shot put (48-4). That close-quarters power flashes on tape in disengaging ability. Size and strength allow anchor-dropping, lane-occupying effectiveness vs. the run. Quite raw technically, especially with hand violence and move set. Good tackle production (five-plus per game as a junior) for an interior DL but needs to expand pass-rushing repertoire and fundamental technique at the point of attack to maximize impact playmaking abilities. Improving reactive quickness and functional athleticism will also help in that category. Big body who looks to be quite a piece of clay to be molded at the next level. Physical characteristics and athletic profile project to the Power Five level with ample long-term developmental upside. – 247Sports Midlands Region Recruiting Analyst Gabe Brooks

In 10 games as a junior, he threw for 604 yards with seven touchdowns while rushing for 308 yards and two touchdowns on 44 carries and catching 17 passes for 341 yards and two touchdowns, per MaxPreps. Scouting report: Arguably the most established prospect in the class of 2023. Burst onto the scene making plays as an eighth grader down in South Florida and never left racking up accolade after accolade. Listed as a wide receiver and will likely get paid one day to catch passes, but could also be labeled as just a straight up alpha as he’s someone that absolutely hates to lose and will do whatever it takes to win. Has evolved as a wide receiver over the years and seems to be settling in as a game-changing inside receiver that can work all the different numbers of the route tree. Fires out of his stance with a purpose and can create separation with his quick feet, sharp cuts and head fakes. Sure-handed and likes to attack the football by snagging it out of the air. Has progressed immensely as a ball carrier and could turn into a YAC machine at the next level as he isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder pad and power his way through defenders. That newfound physicality could be a byproduct of an unconventional junior season in which he was forced into action at quarterback due to injury and ended up rushing for over 300 yards. Likely never going to be a guy that breaks 4.4 on the lasers in the 40-yard dash, but has tested well in other departments (4.26 in the short shuttle to go along with a 31-inch vert) and should only continue to improve long speed. Seems to always rise to the occasion and has played some of his best games to date against national powerhouses like St. Thomas Aquinas and IMG Academy. One of the more college-ready wideouts to come out of the high school ranks in recent memory given his build (looks to be close to 195 pounds) and competitive temperament. Likely won’t need too long to find his bearings and should push for playing time his first year on campus if he can stay healthy. Has all-conference type of potential and Day 1 or Day 2 upside when it comes to the NFL Draft as most modern spread attacks covet guys with the ability to turn a slant or swing pass into a big gain. – 247Sports Southeast Recruiting Analyst Andrew Ivins NFL Draft projection: First Round Player comparison: Jarvis Landry | WR | New Orleans Saints

Scouting report: Possesses prototypical size and length at 6-foot-4 and 250-pounds. Has the ability to add additional weight to his frame. Positioned the majority of snaps in a two-point stance in a stand-up pass rushing edge role. Displays good athletic ability and a natural ability to bend the edge. Smooth mover for his size. Plays with good initial foot and body quickness. Exhibits active hands at the point of attack. Has the ability to beat you with speed or power off the edge. Flashes good lateral quickness in space and shows some ability to drop. Closes space exceptionally well for size. Demonstrates good play strength at the point of attack and flashes some power in his hands off the edge. Projects to a pass rushing edge role in a 3-4 and with his hand in the dirt as a five technique in a 4-3 defense. Position projection will be heavily dependent on the defensive scheme. Arrow is pointing up as the game continues to slow down for him. Projects to high level impact starter at the next level for a Power Five program. – 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Cooper Petagna NFL Draft projection: 2-3 Round (Day 2) Player comparison: Anfernee Jennings | LB | New England Patriots

He was committed to the Knights for just over two months before reopening his recruitment on June 20. He holds 24 reported offers overall. His primary recruiter at Florida was co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Sean Spencer, while outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson also assisted in his recruitment. He is the seventh commitment for the Gators in the 2023 recruiting cycle. In 11 games as a junior, he tallied 75 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, eight quarterback hurries, two pass breakups and a fumble return for a touchdown, per MaxPreps. Scouting report: A lean edge defender that uses his elite short-area quickness to redirect and make plays behind the line of scrimmage. Over 6-foot-3, but will need to add some functional strength right away as he’s under 220 pounds. Spent much of junior season standing up, but also put his hand in the dirt here and there. Doesn’t take long to get to work as he uses an impressive burst to shoot into the backfield or get outside and run the arc. Plays with a nice forward lean and always seems to be in control of his body. A bit of a violent finisher that will latch onto a ball carrier and drag them to the ground. Can win with a few speed moves, but must continue to get better at the point of attack. Ability to make plays in space or outside the hashes is without a doubt one of his biggest strengths heading into his senior season as he excels in backside pursuit. Fluid movement patterns combined with elite testing numbers (7.18 in the L drill and 4.49 in the short shuttle) suggest that he can be an effective pass rusher on Saturdays assuming of course that he's given time to undergo some type of physical transformation once lifting in college. Likely to find most success in a 3-4 front. Might be able some value in coverage having seen him play some tight end/wide receiver on the camp circuit. – 247Sports Southeast Recruiting Analyst Andrew Ivins Projection: Power-5 Starter

Displays above average athleticism at the five technique. Exhibits above average knee bend and hip flexibility in and out of his stance. Flashes a good first step off the line of scrimmage, but has a tendency to be a little late off the ball. Demonstrates good initial foot and body quickness off the line of scrimmage. Wins with speed and quickness in his pass-rush. Will need to continue to develop play strength and ability to play through his frame at the point of attack at the next level. Flashes a high motor and good back side pursuit ability. Appears to be adequate in the run game. Projects to a five-technique defensive linemen in a base 4-3 defense, already 245-pounds, has the ability to add significant weight to his frame at the next level. Possesses a speed and quickness pass-rush foundation but will need to develop more consistency in his ability to play the run and win with play strength to become a complete defender. Long developing defensive lineman that has the ability to develop into a high level multi-year starter at the Power Five level. – 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Cooper Petagna NFL Draft projection: 4-7 Round (Day 3)

Displays above average athleticism and adequate mobility as a runner, increasing his rushing totals every season over the last three years. Appears to have good pocket awareness / presence and the ability to extend plays with his feet. Has enough mobility as a runner to have to respect him in situational down and distance areas. Exhibits clean feet in the pocket while demonstrating good foot quickness and play tempo in his drop. Displays excellent arm talent, showing the ability to make every throw on the field within the pocket. Shows the ability to drive the ball down the field and play with velocity. Excels as an intermediate passer, displaying the ability to consistently deliver the ball accurately and on time while playing with anticipation. Throws an exceptional deep ball, flashing outstanding touch and ball placement allowing him to throw his receivers open. Can play rushed under duress at times, affecting his accuracy in decision making in the short to intermediate part of the field. Will need to continue to improve on making the “right” decision when facing pressure, as he can force himself into making unnecessary passes when his clock is sped up. In addition to possessing all the physical tools desired at the quarterback position, Manning plays the game with exceptional intuition and awareness, showing the ability to command and navigate the game at a very high level. Entering his fourth season as a starter as a senior at Newman, Manning figures to be prepared to make an immediate impact at the next level. The 80-inch wingspan, 10- inch hand and size 16 shoes speak to the growth potential that will come as he matures and develops in the weight room once he gets to college. With a good frame that has good development already for a highschool prospect. He is more developed right now in his lower body where you have good definition in his legs. As he hits the weights in his upper body you should see good mass and defined muscles in that area. James has solid flexibility in his knees with some stiffness in his ankles. He has a smooth running style with a good get off that flashes some suddenness. For a guy with a long build has above average change of direction. Uses his length and wingspan to his advantage when taking on blockers and not letting them get into his body. Plays with a motor and good effort, willing to chase plays away. Good pad level as he comes off the ball and engages with the offensive lineman. As he gets stronger his punch on the opponent will have more of an effect, The fact that he uses his hands well at this stage of his career is a positive sign. James is a guy with a lot of potential and positive traits. His body type and physical maturity into college will enable him to fit in either an odd or even front defensive line. He is a player that can play either end or become a 3-tech with the amount of weight that he may gain. – 247Sports National Recruiting Expert Chris Singletary Projection: Power-5 Starter
