CNC multi-spindle lathe; Digitally controllable magnetic grippers; AC/DC power supply family

Designed to replace cam-controlled multi-spindle lathes up to 22mm in bar diameter, the Index MS16 Plus from the MultiLine series includes six CNC spindles for turning, drilling, milling, tapping, deep hole drilling, or slotting in each of its spindle positions. Workpieces are automatically indexed, receiving two or more operations at each position.

Each of the six spindle positions on the Index MS16 Plus can include a highly stable grooving or boring slide with one NC axis and a cross-slide with two NC axes (X and Z) that are arranged around each work spindle in a V-shape. This allows for simultaneous use of several tools on each work spindle.

The NC-controlled synchronous spindle for gripping the workpiece and an NC cutoff and back-boring slide produce turned parts up to 70mm long.

Spindle speeds can be controlled separately and varied during cutting for each spindle position and tool cutting edge. Spindle speed changes and positioning are possible even during spindle drum indexing, avoiding secondary processing times.

For rear-end machining, the MS16 Plus is equipped with a synchronous spindle, driven by a hollow-shaft motor, allowing speeds up to 10,000rpm. The spindle can move 140mm in the Z-axis at 30m/min to engage several rear-end machining tools on the NC cutoff slide with the X- and Z-axis in succession. The synchronous spindle accelerates to 10,000rpm in less than 0.7 seconds.

27 NC axes of the MS16 Plus include:

The EGM-M monopole magnetic gripper, an extension of Schunk’s digitally controllable magnetic grippers, operates with energy-efficient electro-permanent magnets and does not require compressed air or vacuum. A short current pulse for 300ms activates and deactivates the grippers, and since no energy supply is required, parts remain securely gripped even in an emergency stop or a sudden loss of power.

The EGM-B bi-pole gripper is available with one-, two-, or four-pole pairs in different arrangements, along with pole extensions that allow adjustment of individual handling objects.

EGM grippers have a gripping force of 1.2kN and 22.5kN and are for parts up to 147kg with material thickness starting at 3.5mm. For handling thin sheets, the gripping force can be reduced in eight stages with an additional control unit. The EGM-M magnetic gripper can be used in confined spaces due to its compact dimensions, and in a maximum ambient temperature of 40°C.

The single output MU425S series AC/DC power supply addresses the complex power needs of healthcare systems such as surgical equipment, home healthcare therapeutic devices, imaging equipment, and other critical medical applications requiring clean, reliable power for high-level performance.

Up to 90% efficient, the compact MU425S models are approved to CSA/EN/IEC/UL60601-1, (3rd edition 2) means of patient protection (MOPP) isolation. For home healthcare devices and equipment, the power supplies meet EN61000-4-2, EN61000-4-3, and EN61000-4-6.

The MU425S models measure 3" x 6.2" x 1.62", for 1U high (1.75") applications, and provide 300W of convection cooling or 425W with moving air. Designed with high levels of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) protection, the models have an operating temperature range of -10°C to 70°C and will start at -40°C.

MU425S models have more than 350,000 hours mean time between failure (MTBF) and use long life (>7 years) electrolytic capacitors.
